Dr. Piatkowski absolved his residency in the department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery –Burn Unit in Aachen, Germany. During his residency he made his main clinical experiences in the reconstruction of extensive defects after trauma or in patients with pressure sores. Furthermore he did build up an extensive experience in the field of burn surgery and intensive care. A comprehensive education in the treatment of hand surgery was also absolved. After finishing residency he further deepened his knowledge in hand surgery during a two year long fellowship on hand surgery. In 2011 Dr. Piatkowski was awarded the International travelling Fellowship of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS), which brought him into the field of aesthetic surgery and made it possible to visit some of the worlds most known plastic aesthetic surgeons. In the same year he transferred from Aachen to Maastricht and centered his interests more in reconstructive surgery while maintaining his experiences in hand surgery. At the moment his main clinical interest are reconstructive surgery of the breast and head-and-neck as well as treatment of hypertrophic scars and hand surgery. Since 2013 Dr. Piatkowski is also a staff member in VieCuri Venlo, where he mainly performs Hand surgery, aesthetic surgery and reconstructive breast surgery.
